They say there is no such thing as altruistic giving. Perhaps they’re right. Our support of the following organizations makes us feel pretty good about the difference we’re making in the world.
If you would like to learn more about our personal experiences with these wonderful groups and how you can help, we’d be thrilled to talk to you about it.
The James R. Jordan Foundation
Michael Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan named this organization after her late husband. In addition to authoring many books, Deloris manages the foundation, which works to help kids in disadvantaged areas become healthy and productive citizens. She advocates education as a means to that end, and believes family stability and strong community support are essential for an environment conducive to educational success.
With local and international alliances, the Foundation promotes physical health, literacy, academic achievement and higher education. By increasing parental involvement and giving our youth the motivation and resources to excel, JJF prepares them for their best possible future.
Lighthouse Childcare Centers
These centers have become a haven for the poorest of children in the most impoverished areas of India. Here they are guaranteed a hot meal and a safe place to study or receive tutorial assistance. During the flood season or due to adverse family situations, these childcare centers also serve as temporary safe houses for kids.
This critical safety net came about through the tireless efforts of Chacko Thomas, an amazing, unassuming man of heart and spirit. Chacko established a church center in the slums of Mumbai that has served as a launching point for several key philanthropic organizations. His incredible work is having a major impact in the lives of children and families living in the world’s most destitute communities.
